The Narrative

A new threat—Thanos—has surfaced from the depths of space while the Avengers and their allies have continued to defend the planet from dangers that are too great for any one hero to manage. He is a cosmic dictator who seeks to acquire all six Infinity Stones, which are powerful relics, in order to impose his twisted will on all of reality. The destiny of Earth and existence has never been more in doubt, and everything the Avengers have battled for has led up to this point.

The opening scene of Avengers: Infinity War has Thanos and his henchmen intercepting the Grandmaster's spacecraft as it is transporting the Asgard survivors from Thor: Ragnarok. One of the six Infinity Stones, which Thanos stole from the planet Xandar, is now in his possession. He is now on the hunt for the Space Stone in the Tesseract with Ebony Maw, Cull Obsidian, Proxima Midnight, and Corvus Glaive.

Thor is defeated by Thanos, who then enslaves the Hulk and sends him to Earth via the Bifröst. He takes the Stone and his troops away after killing Heimdall and Loki and destroying the ship.

Hulk reverts to Bruce Banner as he smashes through the Sanctum Sanctorum in New York City.They turn to Tony Stark for assistance when he informs Stephen Strange and Wong of Thanos' vow to exterminate half of all life in the cosmos.

Peter Parker notices Maw and Obsidian as they approach Strange with the intent of stealing the Time Stone. Maw captures Strange, but is unable to get the Time Stone back because of Strange's spell on it. Then, when Banner grabs Steve Rogers, Stark and Parker slip onboard Maw's spacecraft.

We travel to Edinburgh, where Wanda Maximoff and Vision are attacked by Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive in an effort to take the Mind Stone from Vision's forehead. They are saved by Rogers, Natasha Romanoff, and Sam Wilson, who take refuge in the Avengers headquarters.

Maximoff is asked to destroy the Mind Stone there, but Vision knows that would kill him. Rogers prefers to travel to Wakanda because he believes there, the Stone can be removed without obliterating Vision.

In the meanwhile, the Guardians of the Galaxy rescue Thor after hearing a distress signal from the Grandmaster's spacecraft. Thor predicts that Thanos will next seek out the Reality Stone that the Collector keeps on Knowhere.

Thor departs towards Nidavellir while the Guardians are accompanying him. Eitri fashions Stormbreaker there, a war axe powerful enough to take down Thanos.

Quill, Gamora, Drax, and Mantis discover Thanos already possesses the Reality Stone when they reach Knowhere. Thanos kidnaps Gamora, his adopted daughter, to pass the time. She informs Thanos that the Soul Stone is on Vormir in order to spare her sister Nebula from being tortured.

They travel to Vormir, where Red Skull, the guardian of the Stone, informs Thanos that obtaining it requires the sacrifice of a loved one. Our Mad Titan makes an easy decision to kill Gamora in order to obtain the Stone. After escaping, Nebula gets in touch with the surviving Guardians. On Titan, Thanos's shattered home world, she arranges for them to meet her.

To save Doctor Strange, Stark and Parker assassinate Maw in the meanwhile. They also travel to Titan, where they encounter Mantis, Quill, and Drax. Strange uses the Time Stone to look into the countless possibilities that may exist, but he only sees one in which Thanos triumphs.

They therefore devise a cunning strategy to try and contain Thanos while they take the Infinity Gauntlet out from his grasp. Suddenly, Thanos shows in and attempts to defend his destructive plans by claiming that the cosmos is in danger due to population growth.

When Nebula shows up, she assists everyone in taming Thanos, but when she realises that Thanos killed Gamora, things go out of hand. When Thanos is attacked furiously by Peter, the gang is able to lose control of him and be defeated. Stark receives a grievous injury from Thanos, but when Strange gives up the Time Stone, he is not injured.

Next up is Wakanda. At that location, Rogers and Bucky Barnes are reunited as Thanos' army invades the country of Africa. While Shuri tries to remove Vision's Mind Stone, T'Challa and his men are defended by the Avengers.

Because Banner is unable to turn green, he battles in Stark's Hulkbuster gear. To aid in the battle, Thor, Rocket, and Groot all show there. They eliminate Thanos' army by killing his lieutenants Midnight, Obsidian, and Glaive. Shuri, however, is unable to remove the Stone. When Thanos comes to get it, Wanda destroys it before he can.

Thoughtless for Thanos. Wanda's destruction of the Mind Stone is undone by him using the Time Stone. He then tears Vision's mended version from his forehead, instantly killing him. With a strike of Stormbreaker into Thanos' chest, Thor engages in combat. With all the Stones now inside the gauntlet, Thanos manages to endure long enough to snap his fingers.

Thanos teleports off as Thor watches in terror. Sam Wilson, Drax, Mantis, Groot, Peter Parker, Peter Quill, Dr. Strange, T'Challa, Bucky Barnes, and Wanda Maximoff all turn into awful CGI ash. Sole Rogers, Thor, Banner, Romanoff, James Rhodes, Rocket, Okoye, and M'Baku survive in Wakanda, while Nebula and Stark are the only survivors on Titan.

Thanos wakes up completely recovered on a different planet, taking in a beautiful sunset and feeling triumphant despite the fact that it cost him everything.

The Earth disintegrates into pandemonium in the post-credits sequence. Before they themselves turn to ash, former S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury and deputy director Maria Hill watch. Fury uses a repurposed 1990s beeper to send Captain Marvel an S.O.S. as he disappears.
