War Of The Planet Of The Apes (2017)

A sequel to the 2011 film Rise of the Planet of the Apes and the 2014 film Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, War for the Planet of the Apes was released in 2017. It was given the tentative title War of the Planet of the Apes in May 2015. [1] At the Licensing Expo 2015 in June 2015, the promo art debuted for the first time with the placeholder title Planet of the Apes. [2] On July 14, 2017, Matt Reeves' film was released in theatres.

Synopsis

Caesar and his apes have been at war with humans for two years following the events of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Caesar struggles with his darker tendencies as the apes begin to incur significant losses in order to take on Colonel McCullough and the treacherous gorilla Red. The outcome of this conflict will determine the future of both species and Earth.

Plot

The ape clan, lead by the chimpanzee Caesar, is assaulted in the woods by a rebel paramilitary group known as Alpha-Omega, led by a vicious Colonel, after the U.S. military is called in to fend off an increasingly sophisticated and dangerous tribe of apes. Apes known as "Donkeys" who formerly accompanied Koba, a scheming bonobo who attempted to overthrow Caesar, are also employed by Alpha-Omega. Alpha-Omega militants are greeted with fierce ape opposition during the attack, and several troops, including the gorilla Red, are taken prisoner by the apes. In addition to telling the Colonel that he did not initiate the war and that he wants peace between humans and apes, Caesar arrives and commands the release of the four human soldiers.Red is sentenced to prison for his misdeeds by Caesar, but before he can be put away, Red escapes and hurts Winter, an albino gorilla.

Soon after, Blue Eyes, the oldest son of Caesar, and his aide Rocket return from a search for an ape sanctuary. They described what they had seen, which was an oasis spread across a sizable desert bereft of human habitation—the ideal place for the clan to call home. Winter, who was still shaken by the soldiers' assault, advised them to leave right once, but Caesar does not believe they are ready to do so.

The Colonel kills Blue Eyes and Caesar's wife, Cornelia, as a group of Alpha-Omega soldiers led by him infiltrate the apes' hideout behind a waterfall that evening. A gorilla named Luca feels that Winter has betrayed them out of fear since she cannot be found.

Caesar travels to wreak revenge on the Colonel for his family's demise, leaving his younger son Cornelius in the care of Blue Eyes' partner, Lake. While the other apes travel towards the desert, he is followed by Rocket, Luca, and Maurice, an orangutan who serves as Caesar's advisor. The apes come upon a soldier while travelling, and Caesar shoots him when he reaches for his rifle. The guy was living in an abandoned settlement. The deceased soldier's house is searched by Caesar, Maurice, Luca, and Rocket. Maurice finds the soldier's daughter, who appears to be mute. The girl is befriended by Maurice, who gives her a tiny rag doll and requests they take her along.

Winter is encountered by Caesar's group on the way in an Alpha-Omega camp on the beach where he agreed to volunteer to become a "Donkey" in exchange for saving his life. He informs Caesar's team that the Colonel has left for a place known as the "boundary." Winter cries out for help from the Alpha-Omega soldiers, but Caesar and the others restrain him to keep him quiet, accidentally killing him in the process. Caesar starts to fear that by killing gorillas and pursuing retribution, he is turning become Koba.They come across some soldiers who have been shot and left for dead while pursuing the army to the border. They examine a dying soldier and find that, like the girl, he is mute. The gang then encounters Bad Ape, a hermit chimpanzee who had evolved and resided in the Sierra Zoo before the Simian Flu Pandemic. Bad Ape reluctantly agrees to lead Alpha-Omega to where they are camped at the Border after learning that they are there.

The group sees hundreds of apes imprisoned inside an old quarantine facility when they reach the border. When Luca is killed defending Caesar from an AO patrol when they are getting a closer look, Caesar becomes enraged and decides to go alone. Red captures Caesar after he learns the rest of his ape clan has been taken prisoner and is being forced to construct a wall without food or drink. The Simian Flu virus has changed, causing human carriers who survived the first strain to deteriorate, go mute, and return to a primal state, the Colonel later tells to Caesar.Because the Colonel favours killing any infected people, including his own son, to stop the spread of the virus and killed anyone who disagreed with his methods, including his superiors, Caesar surmises that he is barricading himself in the facility to fend off Northern U.S. Army soldiers who are coming to execute him. The Colonel praises Caesar for his intelligence and explains that he is engaged in a "holy battle" for the continuation of humanity.

The mute child, whom Maurice names Nova, sneaks into the institution to give Caesar her rag toy that Maurice gave to her, food, and water, while Caesar is being tortured by famine. Rocket lets himself be captured as a distraction so that she won't be found. The following day, the Colonel checks on Caesar to see whether he's still alive. While there, he finds the doll and questions both Caesar and Preacher about how it got there. The doll will be taken by the Colonel. Together, Caesar and Rocket figure out how to leave the institution through an underground passageway. Caesar gives the command for the others to flee while he goes to confront the Colonel while Maurice and Bad Ape use the tunnel to rescue the apes.Caesar makes his way to the Colonel's office and takes the Colonel's gun as the Northern Army attacks the facility. Caesar is about to execute the Colonel when he notices that he is mute and notices Nova's rag doll on the ground, concluding that the Colonel had succumbed to the infection that he had feared. Caesar puts down his gun and leaves the Colonel to his fate, as the Colonel begs him with motions to pull the trigger. The Colonel then picks up the gun and shoots himself.

The escaping apes are shot at by Alpha-Omega during the conflict between it and the Northern Army. Preacher, one of the Alpha-Omega militants he had earlier turned loose, shoots Caesar with a crossbow when he tries to attack Alpha-Omega from behind. Red uses a grenade launcher to murder Preacher, saving Caesar's life, but as a result, Red is put to death by an Alpha-Omega superior. Alpha-Omega is destroyed when Caesar detonates the facility's fuel sources, setting off a cascading explosion that grants the Northern Army victory. The base and the Army are buried, nevertheless, by an avalanche that the explosion causes. Nova helps Caesar and the apes climb neighbouring trees to stay alive.

The last of the apes and Nova continued over the desert until they arrived at the oasis. Maurice finds Caesar's wound while the other apes joyfully celebrate their new home. Then Maurice continues, informing Caesar that Cornelius will be aware of what his father stood for and did to defend the gorillas. As Caesar slowly and silently perished from his wound, Maurice watched over him in grief.
