Dawn of The Planet of The Apes (2014)

The science fiction film Rise of the Planet of the Apes was released in 2011, and its 2014 sequel is titled Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Andy Serkis reprises his role as Caesar, and Judy Greer portrays Cornelia, Caesar's wife (replacing dancer Devyn Dalton in the role). Nick Thurston, who plays Caesar and Cornelia's teenage son Blue Eyes, joins the cast and appears in the movie as well. The cast also includes Toby Kebbell, who plays Koba, Caesar's nemesis (replacing Christopher Gordon in the role). Along with Gary Oldman playing Dreyfus, the human adversary, the movie also stars Keri Russell as Ellie, Jason Clarke as Malcolm, and Kodi Smit-McPhee as the Alexander family, the human family that Caesar meets.

Hunsiker, the first identified carrier of the ALZ-113 virus, begins to spread the infection in France in 2016, followed by the rest of Europe and ultimately the entire world. Governments from all over the world can pinpoint San Francisco as the virus's origin. The entire world's governments are working to find a cure, but it is challenging. As a result of the virus, many countries proclaim martial law, there is widespread public unrest, there is a global power outage, and millions of people die. The virus ultimately brings about the end of human civilization and the financial collapse of every nation on earth. Ten years later, Caesar is now in charge of a new group of apes living in the Muir Woods Park.Along with Rocket and Maurice from the ape sanctuary, Koba, the scarfaced bonobo who was once used in Gen-sys experiments, is also a member of the group. While leading the apes on a deer hunting expedition, Caesar's teenage son Blue Eyes is injured by a charging grizzly bear but is rescued by Caesar and Koba. A newborn son of Caesar's sick wife has been delivered at his home in the recently constructed hamlet of the apes, where he is then summoned.

In the woods, Blue Eyes and Ash (the son of Rocket) come across Malcolm and a small group of armed survivors. Carver, who harbours a strong mistrust of apes, shoots and injures Ash out of fright. Koba and two other apes are sent to enable the humans to stay after Caesar and the other apes tell them to leave the woods. In the centre of post-apocalyptic San Francisco, a guarded safe haven for a group of humans who are genetically resistant to the virus has been revealed.

The Ape Council then discusses going to war with humans after one of their own was attacked. Caesar disagrees, arguing that the apes have accomplished so much and cannot afford to lose themselves in conflict. Koba soon informs him that he will comply with any orders given by Caesar because he freed him from human torment, but he insists that apes exhibit greater power, and Caesar agrees.

The following day, Caesar, to the amazement of everyone present, leads the ape army into a direct conflict with the humans in the tower. Caesar yells; "War is not what apes want! but if necessary, we'll fight! ". Caesar then instructs the apes to remain in their own zone and tells the humans to remain in their own. The apes leave once Malcolm's son's satchel is given back after he personally instructs Malcolm, the safe-co-founder, haven's to never again visit ape territory.

Malcolm persuades Dreyfus, the commander of the human camp, to grant him three days to make peace with the gorillas in exchange for access to a hydroelectric dam that could supply the city with long-term power. Dreyfus reluctantly agrees, but he is suspicious of the apes and witnesses survivors gathering weapons in an abandoned armoury in case Malcolm doesn't show up. Malcolm tells his company that he is going into Ape Territory alone and that they must leave if he doesn't return in an hour.

The gorilla Luca spots Malcolm as he enters the Ape Village and tells the other gorillas, who then apprehend Malcolm. The human is brought before Caesar by the apes, who ask him why he disobeyed his order. Malcolm begs him not to kill him right there and claims they have authorization to kill him if he poses a threat to them, despite Koba's encouragement to do so. Caesar sees a chance for racial harmony and permits Malcolm to work on the generator at the dam as long as everybody put down their weapons and do their jobs unarmed. Over and over again, Caesar fails to convince Blue Eyes of the goodness he saw in people when he was growing up.Alexander, Ellie, and Malcolm develop a relationship with the gorillas while they work. When Carver threatens both of Caesar's sons with a concealed weapon, trust is momentarily lost; nevertheless, Ellie later lends a hand by giving Caesar's sick wife some antibiotics.

Infiltrating the armoury covertly, Koba challenges Caesar's loyalties and mocks him for his "passion" of people. Caesar severely slaps Koba for being impolite, but pardons him because it is against the law for an ape to murder another ape. Angry Koba covertly plots to overthrow Caesar despite being pardoned. After killing two human guards, Koba breaks into the armoury and snatches an assault rifle. The city's power is eventually restored later that evening, and Malcolm's squad joins the humans in their joy. Carver is attacked by Koba, who beats him to death while snatching his hat and lighter. The apes' home is then set on fire by Grey and Stone, his two henchapes. As the two lock eyes, Koba shoots Caesar in the shoulder from cover, sending him tumbling off a cliff.As Blue Eyes finds the rifle and displays it to the colony, the ape town catches fire and the colony becomes furious over the loss of their Ape King and houses. Malcolm and his family are helped to flee and hide by Maurice. Then Koba appears and accuses Malcolm's crew of being responsible for Caesar's death and the destruction of the colony home while brainwashing Blue Eyes and the other apes. He assumes command and, in retaliation, launches war on the humans. He leads the male apes into combat in San Francisco after driving the young and females into hiding.

After overpowering the human arsenal, the ape army charges the tower's gates while heavily armed. The two colonies engage in a fierce battle, which further damages the already-damaged city. Koba and the apes use a tank that has been taken over to overrun the gates, which allows them to enter the city and plunge it into complete chaos despite the significant losses suffered by both sides. As Dreyfus runs underground, numerous people are killed or taken prisoner in the process.The following morning, the apes hunt down as many helpless people as they can by pursuing a group of running humans into a structure. Because Ash disobeys Koba's orders to kill an unarmed man and invokes Caesar's teachings as justification, Koba kills Ash in front of Blue Eyes and the other apes. The egotistical Bonobo claims; "Caesar is out! Apes are now following Koba!" He then orders all the apes to lock up everyone in confinement units so they can "experience life in cage." Blue Eyes discovers Maurice, Rocket, Luca, and several other people imprisoned on a bus next to the human cages because Koba believes they are all still loyal to Caesar.Koba instructs the apes to locate and seize any surviving free humans still present in the city, while Maurice warns Blue Eyes to defend himself.

Caesar tells Malcolm, Ellie, and Alexander that Koba, not Carver, shot him, and they discover him barely alive while hiding from the ravaging apes. The humans pick up Caesar and take him to San Francisco, where the apes are now in charge. The humans are subsequently led by Caesar to his former residence, where Malcolm's family learns of Caesar's upbringing among humans. Malcolm offers to go for Caesar's medical supplies when Ellie recognises his deteriorating health and the need for treatment.

Then, Malcolm moves around the city, dodging the apes on patrol, manages to collect the medical supplies, runs across Blue Eyes, whom he convinces to spare him, and tells the prince that his father is still alive. With Ellie's provisions, Malcolm heads back to the Rodman residence and returns Blue Eyes to Caesar. Caesar and Blue Eyes embrace, embracing and forgiving one another while Ellie continues to operate on him.

Before his father wakes up, Caesar then takes a nap as his son discovers a photo of him and Will Rodman together. Having witnessed what apes are capable of and realised that the two species are not that unlike after all, Caesar then bemoans his mistaken beliefs that apes were superior to humans. While Caesar is relaxing and becoming nostalgic, Blue Eyes helps his father by liberating the apes and humans who are devoted to him.

The released apes accompany Caesar and Malcolm as they navigate the city's underground system, but when Malcolm reunites with Dreyfus and his remaining soldiers, they are forced to part ways. Dreyfus then informs Malcolm that he and his crew want to detonate a number of C4 explosives beneath the tower. To give Caesar more time to put an end to the mayhem, Malcolm, however, is holding Dreyfus and the others at gunpoint. At this point, Koba is confronted by Caesar and his supporters at the top of the tower. Following a brief exchange of words, the two gorillas engage in a dominance struggle that quickly extends over the tower as the other gorillas closely observe.

Back underground, Dreyfus tells Malcolm that his men have already spoken on the radio with another group of survivors who are en route to San Francisco to combat the gorillas. After saying "I'm saving the human race," Dreyfus snatches the C4 trigger and detonates the bombs.

Dreyfus and his men are killed in the explosion at the same time, but Malcolm just barely makes it into cover. The explosion kills and maims several apes while destroying most of the underground section and collapsing a portion of the tower. Koba picks up a rifle and fires on the apes, wounding Maurice, as Caesar, Blue Eyes, and the other gorillas help the injured. Koba and Caesar both fall to the ground as a result of Caesar's angry attack on him. Koba is left hanging precariously from a ledge while Caesar falls to safety.Invoking the "Ape not kill ape" law, Koba begs Caesar to save him. Caesar firmly asserts that Koba is not an ape before releasing his hold on his hand, sending the treacherous, shrieking bonobo plunging to his death in the pit as a result of the chaos Koba has produced.

The remaining apes then applaud Caesar as he apologises to his erstwhile friend in front of the crowd. When Caesar sees Grey and the other apes holding Malcolm at gunpoint, he orders them to stop, and Malcolm tells Caesar that human reinforcements are on the way. The apes then reconcile with the females and young. He begs Caesar to abandon the city immediately to avoid all-out war. Caesar, however, declines, claiming "There is already a war. War was initiated by apes, and humans will never forgive ". Instead, Caesar apologises to his new friend and encourages Malcolm to take his family and flee for safety before the fighting starts.

Before hugging and parting ways, the two express regret over their missed opportunity for peace. They wish each other well. Caesar hugs his family and the surviving apes follow by bowing down to him in preparation for Caesar to lead them into battle while Malcolm disappears into the darkness. Then, Caesar turns to face the horizon as he waits for Koba's conflict to start.

Following the credits, there are noises of laboured breathing and unexplained rubble.
