Rise Of The Planet of the Apes
One of the most enduring and well-known science fiction film franchises is Planet of the Apes. With one of the most well-known movie shocks ever, the original 1968 movie is a classic. In an effort to swiftly cash in on it, 20th Century Fox produced a number of prequels and sequels in the 1970s and enlisted Tim Burton for a high-profile remake in 2001. However, Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) marks a new turning point for the series. With 2014's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and 2017's War for the Planet of the Apes, it was an unexpected hit with audiences and reviewers alike. Through the perspective of Caesar, who was portrayed by Andy Serkis, the movies depicted how apes came to predominate on Earth and humanity's demise.
The recent Planet of the Apes movies, commonly known as the Caesar trilogy, are excellent science fiction productions that also serve as allegories for the humanities. After the COVID-19 pandemic, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes depicted humanity as being weakened by a viral pandemic spread by humans that undoubtedly hits much closer to home. The link between people and animals as well as how humanity could (and actually might) simply bring about its own annihilation are both depicted in these movies.
The rebooted trilogy flips the perspective to the apes, notably Caesar, as opposed to the original Planet of the Apes movie, which is seen through the eyes of human astronaut George Taylor as he finds the horror of a planet governed by apes. The main character and one with whom the audience is supposed to identify is Caesar. This means that with this franchise, the audience is asked to root against their own species and future.
